Beautiful breast are one of the hallmarks of a woman’s self image and physical attractiveness. Size and shape equally contribute to the allure.
Breast augmentation is associated with enhanced femininity. Thus breast enhancement and breast augmentation by placement of breast implants is a procedure with a high satisfaction rate in our Caribbean plastic and cosmetic surgery practice in Trinidad and Tobago if certain constraints are respected.
The breast augmentation or breast enhancement is achieved by the placement of permanent breast implants. These devices are made of a silicon shell and filled with either saline or silicone gel, a jelly like substance which approximates the natural feel of breast tissues well.
The cosmetic goals are achievement of a fuller, more projecting breast, particularly in the upper and cleavage areas. It is my personal bias to go for a natural, unoperated look.
From my standpoint as a cosmetic surgeon a breast enhancement procedure should be pure and simple. The simplicity comes from respecting certain boundary conditions, which help to keep client and surgeon satisfied with the results.
These conditions can be summarized in one simple sentence, which I owe to one of my teachers “If you can’t make them pretty don’t make them bigger”. Pure and simple. Disregarding this rule in my mind results in compromise, technically difficult to compensate for errors in judgment, less than ideal results and considerably less client or surgeon satisfaction. Breast augmentation and enhancement always perform as advertised – from the starting point an enhancement or augmentation is performed to an endpoint. An ideal starting point results in an ideal end point. Pure and simple.
Pretty breasts come close to an aesthetic ideal with elastic skin cover and support, strong attachments to the chest wall, located on the anterior chest wall with a lateral inclination of about 45 degrees and the breast volume positioned above the inframammary fold, a subtle fullness above the areola and a roundness and convexity below. Lines of contour all flow to the nipple-areola complex, the focal point of the breast, which is positioned at the most projecting point of the breast mound, pointing slightly upward with about two thirds of the breast volume below it and one third above it. Lines of flow are smooth curves from the abdomen and to the armpit with a smooth straight take off from the upper chest wall. The left and right breasts are in reasonable but not perfect symmetry.
Breast corresponding to this aesthetic ideal can be augmented, enhanced and enlarged and will look gorgeous.
