Ethnic Rhinoplasty
It is the specifics of the underlying anatomy of the bony and cartilaginous framework of the nose, which make ethnic rhinoplasty really a different ball game than Western rhinoplasty, almost a completely different discipline. The grand objective of the procedure however is very similar. Ethnic clients desire extremes of appearance to be corrected and brought closer to what they consider the norm for their ethnic group and in harmony with their individual faces.
Facial Fillers
To date the FDA officially lists twentyone approved products for cosmetic applications in the United States, nineteen of which entered the market since 2002. The underlying substances provide a longer lasting clinical effect without the risk of allergic reactions. This relatively large number of different facial fillers results in quite a bit of confusion of patients and physicians alike. We may safely assume that further products will be approved in the future with a potential increase of said confusion. It thus of some importance that you a a consumer / patient acquire some basic understanding of the commonalities and differences between fillers to make rational choices among them.

Facelift Surgery
A more correct name for facelift surgery would be a neck and lower third of the face lift or a jowl’s lift or what have you not. It does a lot to recreate a sharper angle at the transition between chin and neck and around the jaw line. It’s effectiveness when performed in a classical fashion with complete elevation of the skin envelope on the front of the neck is limited to these areas.
Lip augmentation
Although the overwhelming majority of lip augmentations is performed with injectable fillers, there are other, less well known methods, which may be equally or more effective. Clients may not be aware of them and unless properly counseled by a plastic surgeon experienced in all of them their choice of treatment options may be very restricted indeed.
Chin Augmentation
The alternative to chin augmentation with implants and their potential complications is a so called advancement genioplasty. Through a small incision inside the mouth opposite to the front teeth of the lower jaw one gains access to the bone of the chin, which is then separated from the remaining bone of the lower jaw and moved into a more forward position, where it is held with small bone plates and screws.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation – why is it so successful? According to the 2012 statistics of the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgery) breast augmentation is currently the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedure in plastic surgery in the United States. A bit surprising – in the year 2000 this was still liposuction, which now ranks fourth […]
Liposuction
Liposuction – effective, safe and durable body sculpting Liposuction is probably the most frequently performed procedure in cosmetic surgery overall. In our Caribbean plastic surgery clinic at Trinidad Institute of Plastic Surgery we prefer the term liposculpture.
