It is important to remember that all state-of-the-art procedures we use are geared towards skin rejuvenation and anti-aging. These procedures perform extremely well for this purpose. They are, however, only one component of a comprehensive facial anti-aging program. Facial aging is a process with many nuances. Besides the skin, the skeleton, fat, suspension of the skin and soft tissue envelope all experience age related changes. Skin rejuvenation procedures by definition cannot claim any effects one anything other than skin. When sagging of soft tissues, volume loss or age related skeletal changes are present even better skin tone, more uniform pigmentation and reduced pores will not make you look much rejuvenated.
The majority of skin rejuvenation procedures are performed in our office under local or regional anesthesia (similar to what dentists use to numb up the teeth, but geared to anesthetizing the entire face) if necessary. Some, like a chemical peel with TCA, have a recovery period, but most are lunch time procedures. Some skin rejuvenation procedures require a medically supervised skin care program before and after the procedure. A consultation with our board certified plastic surgeons is thus mandatory prior to any skin rejuvenation procedure.
